The first game was held on the high school field. It feels so much bigger there and we're a lot farther away from the action. They played a Lone Peak team that came out looking pretty strong. They scored early in the first quarter leaving us down 0-6.
But after that the boys seemed to have a fire lit inside them and really started playing well. We recovered two of our own punts in a row which each ended in touchdowns bringing us ahead 12-6. Then we drove it down for another touchdown which had us up 18-6.
We are clearly struggling with scoring extra points. But that is pretty common at this age. Then the most exciting thing was Jack intercepted the ball in the third quarter and ran it all the way down for a touchdown. He was so excited, I have no pics because I was so excited. They ended up winning the game 25-6. It was good to start the season with a win.

Game 5
Game 5 was against another Lehi team. The weather started out really nice, then got a little warm toward the end.
Jack is nervous before each game, we tell him nerves can be a good thing. The above pic has way too much grass in it, but I love when you can see where the ball is.
It totally looks like the kid closest to the camera is waiting for the ball, but it's already gone. The offense they run makes it really hard to tell where to ball is.
It was pretty sunny and there was a huge glare, so I never know what kind of pictures I am going to get. I sit with the girls for most of the game, so everything is far away as well. I love getting the ball mid-air.
Jack had his first pass for a touchdown. He was excited and did a cheer on the field, he's usually pretty sedate, so I knew he was excited.
Stats:
1 touchdown pass
4 tackles
He also scrambled all over the field with the ball at one point and broke three tackles before he got taken down.
Final score 34-0. Currently undefeated!

Game 2
Week Two brought a grudge match between two Lehi teams. There were a lot of kids on the other team that played on Jack's team last year. I guess there was a lot of trash talk at some of the schools. Jack's team is in the green pennys and the other team has on yellow helmet covers.
We were up for the whole game. The boys did a good job of consistently making plays and getting down the field. By the half we were up 24-0.
They had 15 first downs. Jack did get sacked once for a loss. In the second half they score 14 more points for a final of 38-6. Thus far the team record is 2-0.

So far it's been good Jack being QB. I am getting used to everyone yelling out his name-in a mostly positive way. The field they played on this time was much better than last week. It was in the middle of a track and there was shade on the edges. Tessa could ride in the stroller while I followed the game and the other girls didn't melt in the sun like the previous week. I like the milder weather.

New Season
The last week in July began the sixth grade football season. A week of tryouts, then a few weeks of practice before the Jamboree where all Lehi teams play. Jack is playing quarterback and linebacker this season. Quarterback is a new position, and so far so good.
There are a few kids we know on the team from last year and from school. Game one was August 27th. It was a blistering hot day and none of the fields have any shade. We are ready to purchase a giant canopy for the kids to sit under.
The opponent was American Fork. They were up 13-0 in the first quarter. Then the tides began to turn. The Pioneers scored and recovered an on side kick. By half time the boys knew they were in the game. Jack sacked the AF quarterback, always fun to see. The final score was 20-13.
Stats-
1 carry for 8 yds
1 incomplete pass
6 tackles
It's nice to have one win already, good for the boys to see their hard work pay off and have confidence.
